Date nite, ft. 2 time assassins for siblings [Closed to Five's and Steve]

Rey was excited and not as nervous as she was anticipating herself to be. Tonight, she was going to have Steve over for pizza and a movie. A continuation of an earlier lunch date which went extremely well. A great first "date" and now, she was going to hang out with Steve again. He was a very sweet fellow who made her heart flutter and she couldn't believe they met and had exchanged numbers.

Her siblings advice on texting Steve (though she did not provide a name to her mysterious "friend") had gone pretty well, except the advice did not cover what to do if the objection of your affection texted you first. That had certainly thrown her for a loop, but it allowed them to talk, make plans...and now she was making sure the pizza was ordered, the movie was prepped and she had everything else she needed: water, soda if Steve wanted, and plenty of booze for her.

Which...actually reminded her of something.

Rey had thrown on an over sized emerald shirt with black leggings when she remembered she had to send a text to Five...or one of him? Both? Whatever the case, she needed one of him to pop over before her date arrived. Not that she was ashamed of her family but...she didn't think it was appropriate to have Steve and her eldest sibling meet--not yet.

Hey--There's still some coffee ice cream at my place. If you want it, come by in the next half hour.

Shouldn't take Five (one of them) long to read the message and pop on over...never mind the fact she put a time limit.

Now, she just needed to fix her hair a little. She had been wearing it in a pony tail all day, and she wanted to let it hang down.

[Rey was in the middle of fixing her hair, or attempting to. Her phone at her side, prepared to answered any new texts from either Five's. She managed to get her hair wavy and look (somewhat) cute when BOTH brother popped into her apartment, startling her.

Which nearly causes her to use her powers to throw things at them, out of defense. Both Fives were saved from being smacked with hair brushes and a hair dryer.]

Five! [Shit, damnit!] Knocking...knocking would've been preferred.

[Didn't they have this conversation once with at least one of them?]

Ice cream's in the kitchen, in the freezer. Take it and enjoy.

[But deep breath...] Hi? If that's all you're here for...take the carton home and share it amongst yourselves....

[ Five glances over toward his other self and gives him a nod. Because yes, it does save time. ]

What? I thought you would be expecting me, since you extended the invitation.

[ Nope, not apologizing for blinking in. He can't help but smile because now that he sees Rey fussing over her hair, he knows the friend is likely a potential boyfriend for sure. ]

The ice cream was pretty good. [ He tells the other Five, completely ignoring Rey trying to rush them out the door already. ]

[ They're probably the only two people in this family who can be in a specific place and time when needed, Five isn't surprised that they both have the same way of thinking. He raises an inquisite eyebrow at his sister. ]

Did you text us both? [ His voice is neutral -he's also not apologizing for blinking into her house - but he's slightly put off by the idea. It's sweet of Rey to want to keep the both of them updated at the same time but he wonders what kind of conversations she had with his other-self. ]

So I've heard. [ He informs the other and the tightness of Five's smile is only slightly more accentuated. It's not the other Five's fault, nor it's Rey's, they're both trying to act as a family...but it still makes something ache in Five's chest. It's a personal problem that he's going to try and ignore, so he forces his shoulders to relax and gives Rey a once over, his smile turning more genuine. ] You look very cute.

[ He turns to his 'twin' a moment later, his tone almost accusatory but with a grin playing on his lips. ] He refuses to tell me the name of the guy she's dating but they met at Disneyworld. It's adorable.

[Rey has to take a deep breath for herself otherwise her mind will run in so many circles and she needs to keep track of time. Steve would be here soon and she REALLY wanted this to go well. They did have a good lunch date, but that was only two hours and they had to be professional about it since ...well, it was during work hours?]

I was expecting both of you, but a 'I'm heading over' text would've been preferred. Or knocking on my apartment door. [Small steps, small baby steps.] And yes, I texted both of you because I wanted the coffee ice cream to be enjoyed by both of you.

[Trying to be even and fair since there are two of them. Although, it's...easy to tell one Five is more annoyed? Protective? Or just upset about the situation more so than the other.]

Um, thanks? I was trying to do something with my hair since it was up all day--!!

[There's a small groan as she picks up a hair brush to try and comb her hair--but it accidentally (she will swear by it) is thrown at one of the Five's.] Shit, sorry! [It was a sloppy throw, one used with her powers.] But, it's not that adorable! We met at Epcot, we took a photo together by the Eiffel Tower..

[Okay, maybe it was adorable, just a little--and also telling both of them more intimate details of her meeting with Steve.]

And I would give you his name--if you both promise to not.. [She starts to list off her 'demands' with her fingers:] Run a background check on him, investigate him, stake him out, threaten him with bodily harm, or ask him what his intentions are.

[ Five's ears twitch at the sound of other Five's question to Rey about texting them both. While he notes the neutral expression on his counterpart's face, he can read between the lines and sense that his other self is inwardly fretting, probably much like himself.

It's one thing to feel the occasional pangs of jealousy toward his counterpart, but it is another to see those pang of jealousy directed at him. If they were alone, he would probably confront him, but since Rey is with him, he keeps silent. Only giving Five a brief 'You okay?' look that only he would be able to read. ]

I'll keep that in mind for the next time I visit you.

[ He concedes for Rey's sake even if he feels she should be use to it when she sends him an invite to her place. As the topic moves on to her looks, he doesn't get to voice his opinion on that subject as a hair brush comes flying at his face and he barely manages to block it with his arm. ]

Geez, Rey. You must really like your Disney friend here, if you flinging things in your nervousness. But truth be told though, he's right, that does sound adorable.

[ He can see it very clearly, she's smitten. Which makes him all the more worried over this mystery guy of hers. Because he is really hoping that the guy is on the up and up and not some shady fuck.

When she goes listing off her demands again, he suppresses the urge to huff, because dammit he doesn't want to promise ALL of that. Well at least on the background check, because that is the least evasive one and the guy would never know about it, unless a red flag popped up. Then all bets were off.]

Rey, I really feel you got to give us one concession at least. I can fold on most of your demands, but you are being unreasonable.

[ Yeah, he said it. He doesn't want to go making a promise that he knows in his heart of hearts, he's going to break it. At least one of those demands he would. He side glances over to other Five, silently asking him, 'Am I being unreasonable here?']

[ There's a small tilt to Five's head towards his other self that answers a voiceless 'It's nothing, don't worry' when they share a look. And it should be nothing. They're the same person, logically, here's no reason for his siblings to favor one over the other, nor had the other Five done anything to make him paranoid about his intentions. He can't help but wonder a little about his place in this family. God, he wishes he had Dolores to talk with sometimes but even she had to move on. They had to move on.

Before he can say anything else, they're playing dodge the flying hairbrush, and Five winces in sympathy. At least the other managed to block it, unlike it happened with the frying pan Lila threw at them. ]

Maybe we should move away from the styling product and sharp objects for the time being. And you need to admit it's somewhat adorable.

[ A bit like a fairy tale. What are the chances to meet someone at DisneyWorld form all places who apparently lives close or doesn't have all that much trouble traveling to the city you live? But it can be too much of a coincidence, which is why Five was so suspicious at first. He returns the exasperated look Five is giving him with a 'No, you're not. We're not' before frowning at Rey. ]

Running a background check is not that bad. Even companies do it for their employees. [ He's going to argue this point with Rey and side with his other self because come on she needs to allow them to do something. Five doesn't want to lie to her either but if they agree to not do anything, then he would have to get Diego involved and ask HIM to do the background check instead. Which technically would be keeping his word to Rey that he isn't the one doing the investigation but it might still piss her off if she figures it out. ] It's just a safety measure to make sure he is who he claims to be, we don't have to go in deep.

[ We don't have to but we will, it's something he doesn't say. His other self will still get it, he's sure. ]

It's not adorable! [Rey huffed, feeling more embarrassed than frustrated by both of her brothers. And what styling product were they talking about, it was one hair brush! She didn't have any other products on her--she was lucky she had a hair dryer and styling wand--both of which took a while to get used to without burning herself.

Groaning, she moved from her spot into the living room, flicking her hand to have the hair brush float back to its rightful place. The living room was prepped with more pillows, a blanket draped over it, and The Princess Bride Blue-Ray out on her entertainment center.]

I'm not being unreasonable--I wouldn't do anything of the sort if one or both of you fancied someone. [Which really gave away that she did in fact like this one gentleman caller.] I'm trying to do what I want in my life--take a step forward and involve you--both of you in it.

Besides.. [God, she had to pinch the bridge of her nose as she gave in slightly. Hopefully this wouldn't bite her in the ass.] He works for the government, if you ran a background check on him, he might be notified and it could impact his job.

[So, he may or may not have top secret clearance? Maybe? Possibly? It may have helped Rey's case, or it may have fueled her brother's paranoia. Fuck no, it probably fueled their paranoia.

Think, Rey, THINK.]

But he is who he claims to be. He's...well known. He wouldn't be faking who he is. [Minor celebrity? Possibly...Rey wasn't sure how to exactly describe it.]

Right, not adorable at all. What are we thinking? [Five instantly rolls his eyes because she's just proving their point.

He can't help but give other Five a 'thank you' look because this is just super frustrating. He doesn't want to rain on her parade, he just wants reassurance that 'Mr too good to be true' is real and not manufactured by someone aiming to hurt a member of their family.

At her argument back, Five gives Rey a flat stare.] Really? You wouldn't be the least bit concerned if someone showed interest in one of us. We, who look like thirteen year old boys?

[ Yeah, no, he has to question that logic, because seriously any adult interested in either of them as they are now, would be considered a creep to normal society. Five clamps down on his bottom lip to stop himself from saying something he will really regret later. He's far too use to throwing out scathing retorts to most everyone, but he's not going to do that to Rey.

Her next words about her date's government job has his spine stiffening on principle. Instinctively he glances over to his other self with a slightly worried expression. He doesn't really like the sound of that.]

So what does that mean? You're seeing a politician or something?

[ Government worker, plus well known equals someone who is visible to the people like most politicians and some high up bureaucrats. Five is not sure how he feels about either prospect if he's honest with himself.]

You're right. I think cute is more like it. That's a good description too. [ Don't mind Five being a little shit, Rey. Seeing her act all a nervous like a teenager on her first date is a really entertaining spectacle that he never expected to witness. He lets out a snort at Rey's attempt at an argument and the other Five's rebuttal. Anybody interested in them it's not to be trusted on principle, no doubts about it. ]Yeah. We're not opening that can of worms, no.

[ 'Is that how I sound when things don't go right?', Five muses to himself, watching the other two interact. It's one thing to know that he can be a bit irrational from time to time -even if he believes it's justified- and a whole different thing to see it happen before his eyes. He's touched that her sister wants to involve them in her life despite the warning signs and decides to give her a small break. His attention turns to the other him, voice casual. ]

Don't waste your time, she already mentioned that to me but won't elaborate further. 'Works for the government' it's all we're gonna get.

[ And it's nearly not enough but Five has learned not to pressure Rey for answers, she needs a more delicate approach. The problem is that nor him nor his other self ever mastered the art of 'delicate' or the most common concept 'social skills'. ]

Wasn't Allison's husband in the 60s one of those...? [ Five talks as he moves to the kitchen in search of the promised ice cream.

Sure enough, he opens the freezer a there's the black and gold carton. Rey even got them the good stuff instead of an off-brand one, bless her. Five knows that she wanted them to take it and leave but nah, it will be better if they try it here and don't waste time. And if her date just happens to show up while they're still in her apartment, well... what an unfortunate coincidence.

A couple of jumps around later and he's perched on the back of Rey's couch, offering a spoon to his other self, the opened cartoon of ice cream in his lap, and a spoon in his left hand. ]

So we're talking about a known, public figure here... [ Whatever Five had planned to say next dies on his tongue after he tastes the ice cream for the first time. His eyes light up and he looks down at the cartoon as if it keeps the secrets of the universe. ] Now I understand why Klaus does drugs.

[Rey was getting backed into a corner. She thought she was trying to do something nice, honestly. By telling her brothers she wouldn't but into their business if they were out on a date--but if someone older were interested in a 13 year old looking boy, THEN questions (numerous questions) would be raised. If Five went for someone who looked around the same age as him....it wouldn't end well.

So, no, they shouldn't open that can of worms.

But, back on topic. She cringes at the thought of Steve being a politician.]

No, he's not into politics. He doesn't campaign or... [Actually, wait. Didn't he mention something about a rally? Or, was he just joking about that?] He's not a politician or some socialite. [She watched one of her brothers go off into the kitchen, presumably to get the ice cream she mentioned to both of them.]

No, Allison's husband was...he was part of The Movement? Like a figure head or something? [Rey couldn't quite recall at the moment as she was too focused on the matter at hand--

And now Five was eating ice cream on her sofa...with one spoon held out to his other self.]

...Yeah...it's coffee ice cream. I have Kahlua and Baileys. Mix coffee ice cream with either one of those liquors, and you have a booze shake. [Because, why wouldn't she fuel his drinking habits?

But, no, she would have to come clean a little as this entire thing was getting out of hand!]

Fine, you want a name? His name is....his name is Steve. [And for the love of God, please don't let Steve just knock on her door right at that moment.

AND!! She gave them a name! Maybe not all of his name, but a name nonetheless.]

Pretty sure, Allison's husband would be considered a civil rights activist.

[He's just going to supply that name, while he watches as his other self heads toward the kitchen, but doesn't say anything else. He gets what his counterpart is trying to do and well he was planning on doing similarly, because what could Rey say if her date showed up while they were both still here.

When other Five takes a seat on the couch and offers him a spoon, he walks over and takes the offer, but he doesn't go for the ice cream. Instead he has one of those out of body experiences as he watches the look that dons his counterpart's face. Oh man, is that how I looked when I tried that ice cream? It's mildly embarrassing knowing that anyone has witnessed that orgasmic look on his face.

Then Rey had to bring up the shakes...However he's distracted from his thoughts when she mentions a name. Wait...Steve. Suddenly he is leaning on the couch with a thoughtful expression on his face. Public figure. Government employed. But not a politician. Could it possibly be?]

His last name wouldn't happen to be Rogers would it?

[ Did his sister land herself the first actual Superhero?]

Ah, that sounds about right for Ray. [ Five really needs to pay more attention to his siblings' love lives but they complicate everything so much. Focusing on Rey now is more entertaining, more so now that they finally got a name.

He does notice the other Five staring at him in disbelief, how can he not?, and glares at himself. The effect is ruined by the fact he has the tip of the spoon pressed against his lower lip. 'It's good, okay, stop judging.' ]

I'll have to try that. [ He takes a mental note to add Kahlua and Baileys to their shopping list for the next time they go get groceries. Rey does know him well, he will drink that like water. And she is finally offering them a name. Five eats another spoonful of icecream and leans back a little, subconsciously mimicking the same pose and expression of the other Five as they both think about possibilities. ]

That...Captain America died decades ago, I'm sure there are other Steves around the glove. Right? [ The last question is directed at their sister and Five gives her an inquisitive raised eyebrow. ]

[As much as Rey wanted to focus on seeing that sweet and adorable expression Five wore (again) as he had coffee ice cream, her priorities shifted. Apparently one of them knew Steve Rogers was Captain America and alive. The other didn't know he was alive...

And as much as Rey wanted to deny it, the faint blush on her face was giving her away. If there was a god, and if they were kind, they would let the ground open up to swallow her right now.

But...at least Steve hadn't showed up...yet.]

No, he's...right. [She gestured to the Five that wasn't eating ice cream.] He's alive...and it's the same Steve Rogers you're both thinking of. Captain America...

[Rey let the sentence trail on as she tried to compose herself, but instead found herself looking down out of embarrassment.]

...I didn't know who he was when we first met. [She admitted softly, now trying hard not to fidget in front of her brothers, suddenly feeling like they were going to REALLY examine every aspect of the budding romance. Maybe it was better to just come clean entirely.]

We exchanged numbers, and I asked the family if I should text this 'friend' and it was him...we had a lunch date earlier. But, he's a good guy and...I don't know what else to tell you.

[Five just gives other Five a flat stare at that glare he gets for staring at him. I was not judging, I was observing. His look insists. Quickly he rolls his eyes as he dips his spoon into the ice cream carton and takes a bite because he needs it now.

He can't help but frown at Five when he discredits his guess. Had his other self not read the morning papers? Steve Rogers was all over them as the town was buzzing about his speaking engagements. He sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose.]

Old man, please keep up. Steve Rogers was in the morning news today. How in the world did you miss it?

[He chides his other self for not keeping up on current events, before turning his attention back to Rey, whose faint blushing doesn't go unnoticed. He smiles broadly once she confirms his suspicions. This is definitely good news, since Steve Rogers is such a public figure, digging up information can be done by anyone without it being traced back to him or his counterpart.

Five leans against the sofa, his arms crossed over his chest as he suppresses the urge to laugh. Rey really did look adorable trying not to fidget while recounting what led up to her and Steve going out on a date. ]

Wow, sis. Your first time out the gate and you land yourself a living legend. I'm impressed.

[ He even lets out an impressed whistle to boot. ]

[ The still raised eyebrows that answer that silent reply can only be translated a placated 'Uh-huh, fine'. and Five leans forward a little to make it easier for the other to scoop up the ice cream. It's good and truly a shame he never got to try it until now, he's been missing this wonder for decades. He's going to bring Rey something in exchange to thanks her, maybe an alpaca plushie to add to her collection. ]

I've been busy trying to find where exactly is the temporal rift located in the Academy. That takes priority over reading pink press.

[ He wants to make sure they're all safe, the other Five included, because he actually likes the little bastard in lieu of being, well, himself. It's amazing how not suffering from paradox psychosis clears the head and changes your views about meeting another version of oneself.

The blush on Rey face gets his attention quickly after that and Five hides a small smile behind the spoon. Ah, to be young and in love. If this whole thing ends going sideways, he will murder someone. Given how she has managed to get herself one of the most famous superheroes of the plant, it gives Five a little faith about their possible relationship. He snickers at his other self comment. ]

I think we should congratulate you on your impeccable taste, yes. Are there other historical figures that came back to life and I missed?

[The comments from her brothers cause Rey's blush to deepen. She's pretty sure she's giving the best impression of a rose or a tomato, one of the two. Is this what she gets for being open with them? Teasing and bantering? Yes, but...better than not having them around. It's a very sobering thought that helps her not sink into the floor.

She has them, and there wasn't anyone else who she would want to share this with--albeit, she was close to dying of embarrassment.]

I told you both, I didn't know who he was. I thought he was one of the workers at Disney--someone who plays a hero, not...not an actual hero. [There's a sigh as she picks up her phone to check on where the pizza was. According to her app the driver was en route. Great. Hopefully it would get here before Steve showed up.

Five's important historical question does give the young woman pause.]

Do you want to count Hamilton? Relatively unknown, until the musical came into full swing. [And something Evie was part of, which was astounding for someone in their family. Girl had talent.]

But, look, you have a name, you have the ice cream. Are you going to be...nice? To Steve? [She gave them both a knowing look.

By "nice" she meant what she listed above. No background checks, no interrogations, nothing that would make the poor man run away screaming--Rey was trying to not do that herself.]

[By the time makes it over to Rey's place (he had to check the directions she gave him a couple of times to make sure he was in the right place.) but before he can knock on the door, he hears several muffled voice coming through the door. He stops to check the apartment number on his phone one last time just to be sure that is her place.

Finally he decides to knock because maybe it is just one of her neighbors or something.]

Oh please, dear brother. I know very well that we know how to multitask, even with our tunnel vision.

[ So not accepting that excuse, but certainly being the first to vocally acknowledge that he is seeing his other self as another family member as well.

It is hard not to tease Rey, when she is looking so flustered, but he resists the urge to keep it going. He waves his hands in deference.]

Fine, I'll be nice.

[ And he actually means it, Captain America has a reputation for being a stand up human being. And he has a history that is pretty public for anyone looking, complete with a Smithsonian exhibit dedicated wing to him and his accomplishments.

Then a knock at the door, stops him from saying anything else as he simply glances over to Five with a smirk. Looks like their distraction worked.]

[ Five shrugs, not really all that bothered by the passive-aggressive chiding or the endearment. Instead, he's thinking of possibilities. ]

You can work on memorizing the intricacies of modern pop culture as well as the news, and I'll work on the temporal anomaly. Then we update each other. More practical that way, and a better use of our time.

[ Should Rey be worried that one of the Fives is already thinking of long term plans and teaming up? Hm, maybe. ]

I have heard of Hamilton. [ The politician, not the musical. Five's not going to say that out loud because a- he doesn't care about musical and b-. He knows he will never hear the end of it if he says he doesn't care about musicals. Much like his other self, it's difficult not to want to tease their sister further, she makes it almost too easy. He takes another bite of the ice-cream, deliberately slow, before answering a; ]

We can do nice.

[ From all his fears about what sort of terrible people she might have ended with because nothing ever goes right in this family, he has to admit that Steve Rogers sounds like a safe bet. What are the odds that he will end a criminal? Very low, for sure. Besides, finding information about him is as easy as breathing.

Five has to stop himself from grinning when there's a knock at the door but he perks up and meets the other man's look. Yep, it worked just fine. He puts the lip on the ice cream container and quickly blinks to the kitchen, leaves it on the freezer, and spatial jumps himself back to stand next to the other Five. ]

There's someone at the door~ [ The voice is almost sweet, so casual that Five manages to sounds like the age he looks. Rey should know better than buy it but it could fool someone who doesn't know him well. ]

[Rey cast a look between her brothers, wondering if this was the beginning of something interesting or of the end. If both of them began to work together, who knows what chaos or Hell they would unleash. But, on the other hand, they would make a formidable team. They would be able to anticipate each other's moves and--honestly, it would be easy to fuck with people. If Rey knew her brothers, she knew he loved to fuck with others--specifically some of her more...less enlightened brothers, at times.

But, that was something to ponder another time. She had a sneaking suspicion something was up. Realization hit her when the doorbell rang and her spine stiffened. How could she have forgotten about the time constraint?! Her eyes shifted to the clock above her door.

FUCK.]

..Right...the door.

[She prayed to whatever deity was listening that it was the pizza guy, and not Steve.]

Be nice! [Rey managed to hiss over her shoulder, reiterating to both brothers as she tried to calm herself down. She brushed her hair back and tried to fix her shirt a little. Her heart was pounding hard in her chest, possibly loud enough for anyone else to hear.

Swallowing her nerves, she opened the door a little and managed a small, apologetic smile. Damnit, it was Steve and he looked nice and...she was essentially throwing him to the wolves.]

Hey...you look great. [Fuck, she wasn't about to cancel. She leaned in a little, trying to keep the door as close as possible to herself and to keep Steve from seeing who was inside her apartment.]

So...my brothers stopped by, and they're on their way out--but, they are aware of you and...I'm so sorry for whatever happens in the next few minutes. [God, help her right now. She flashed another apologetic smile then stepped back to open the door further to reveal both Five's and to let Steve in.]

Come in...and Steve, these are my brothers--The twins! [Fuck, they were going to need to come up with a cover story.]

[ Steve offered Rey a bright smile when she opened the door. He was very happy to see her, though he could tell she was nervous about something given that she was leaning hard on the door, definitely blocking his view into her apartment. For a second, he worried that something was wrong, but then she mentioned her brothers and he gave her an 'oh' expression. ]

It's fine. [ He said softly, giving her a reassuring smile, before she opened the door to fully invite him in. He looked mildly surprised when he laid eyes on the pair of thirteen year old boys, that didn't seem right that she had brothers so young. He was pretty sure, the debriefing he got on the Umbrella Academy said they were all the same age, born on the same day under mysterious circumstances. ]

Oh, hey there. I didn't realize you had younger brothers.

[ He walked further into the apartment, extending a hand toward them, offering a polite handshake to each of them. ]

It's nice to meet you, in any case.

[Five merely rolled his eyes at his counterpart, before giving him a conceding shrug. ]

Fine, we can discuss it later.

[He had always known that the person he could rely on most was himself. So them splitting tasks among themselves made sense. They could at least trust the other would follow through.

Though that is all put aside as he watches Five go put the ice cream away, while they both wait for Rey to cave and go answer the door. He almost leans into the other Five when he reappears beside him as she hisses at them to behave. Instinctively bites back his amusement to give her a frown. Cause huff, he already said he would be nice. Their positioning really making them look actual twins than the two versions of the same person.

Once Rey finally lets Steve in the door and introduces them as her twin brothers, he immediately notices the confused look that crosses Steve's face. He keeps his expression neutral, but he has a feeling that one Steve Rogers will detect any bullshit story they try to give him. Especially when he comments on them being her younger brothers.

Five spares a glance at his 'twin'. Should they be straight with the guy? Or wait it out to see if Steve calls them out? Though quickly his attention is back on Steve as he accepts the handshake despite his tendency to stray away from touch. ]

It's nice to meet you too.

[ It's weird to have someone rolling his eyes at him, that's usually Five's shtick. Then again, its' another Five doing it, so it makes sense. Once they're back in the Academy he will actually give the newspapers a look, if only because he hates being behind on things.

We got quite a long list of subjects to discuss. But that can happen later, when they're not meddling into their sister's love life.

Poor Rey, even Five felts a pang of pity after seeing how alarmed she is about this whole ordeal. They just want to make sure she's going to be safe, it's not like they want to actively harm her possible relationship. Much like his other self, he ends pouting when Rey scolds them one last time before going for the door. They're adults! They know how to behave, thank you very much. And if they happen to be adults that are also somewhat of a troll, well, some things can't be helped. But they're doing this out of concern for her well being.

Five has to fight the urge to be the one now rolling his eyes at Rey's lame explanation about who they are. They really need to teach her how to come up with better cover stories and work on her poker face. But ey, that sure is Steve Rogers, all right. Rey wasn't lying or exaggerating, it really is the man in all his All American glory.

Glancing back at his now-called- twin, Five can read the question in the blue eyes. He wants to see how perceptive Steve really is, and not bring Rey more grief, so the small tilts of Five's head says 'Nah, let's see how it goes'. ]

Likewise. [ Despite his first reaction being to instinctively ignore the offered hand - why can't strangers keep those to themselves?- Five takes it with a smile that looks almost natural. ] We've been out of the city for a long while, so it's no wonder that mentioning us might have slipped Rey's mind. Besides, she always works too much and so hard...it's good to see she has now someone to unwind with. Someone who can be trusted.

[ Well, that is technically not a lie. Five has yet to let go of Steve's hand, though, and to break eye contact. He might not like unprompted contact but now he's reading Steve's reaction to, well, everything. ]

Yeah...younger brothers.. [Rey wanted to kick herself for the slight lie she came up with. She could only hope both Five's would roll with it. As much as she wanted to tell Steve the truth would it be really wise? He was being introduced to the "senior" member of the family. Did she dare want to bring up the whole 'time travel' thing?

But, Steve was a smart guy. He was bound to know something was up. Good god, would it be wrong to have him forget about the whole thing? Use her power--no, no, she wouldn't go down that road.

She watched with a keen eye at the exchange of pleasantries, preparing to shut the door just as the pizza guy showed up. If it wasn't for the 'Um, MA'AM!' from the red haired teen, she would've closed the door on the poor guy's face. She quickly fished out more than enough money, took the pizzas then closed the door--only to open it again with her powers and quickly uttered a 'thank you' and an apology.

The door was shut again with Rey quickly placing the large pizza on top of her kitchen stove.

Good god-- She always works too much...good to see she has someone to unwind with. Someone who can be trusted. Rey wanted to crumple to the floor and lay there until the whole mess was over. Fuck, did she try to be a mediator between the Fives and Steve? There was no fucking handbook on how to deal with this. No, no, they said they would play nice--yet looking at Five holding on Steve's hand--did it look like he was daring Captain America to do something?]

Pizza's...here.. [She managed to say after all this time.

Fuck...FUCK. This entire thing was going to blow up in her face. Taking in a deep breath, she gave up on trying to take control of the situation, opened her fridge and grabbed the vodka bottle. Tonight was going to be a shit show, might as well usher the chaos right along. Luther and Diego did well with fewer brain cells, maybe she should take that approach.]

If anyone wants anything to drink--vodka included, let me know.

[Her liver was going to learn how to deal with more than two shots tonight.]

[Well the body language between the two boys definitely seemed on par with what someone would expect of identical twins, he can't deny that. However something in those eyes of theirs speaks to something much older than they appear. Now they could just be very wise for their age or their experiences have already jaded them.

Steve's not sure how he feels about that given their current appearance, but he also can't shake the feeling that there is more going on then meets the eye. However he can feel and hear the distress in Rey's voice. Especially at the way one of her brother's maintains a grip on his hand while giving him a coded message, his expression practically demanding that Steve not do anything to hurt his sister.

In response, he gives Five's hand a gentle squeeze along with a self-depreciating smile. ]

Well Rey's a special woman, so I'm happy that she even wants to spend time with me. But I'm sure you two know exactly how special she is.

[His eyes say it all. 'She's safe with me, I promise you that.' He's the first to break the gaze with Five and glance over to Rey.]

Pizza sounds great, Rey, but you sure you want to break out the vodka already? We haven't even started the movie yet.

[ He questions gently, not judging her, but hoping that she knows that he isn't going anywhere no matter what her twin protectors toss at him. He can handle this, he's got plenty of practice from dealing with Nat, Sam and Bucky, who all have protective streaks several miles long.

He glances back over to both Fives with an expectant gaze. 'Are we good?']
