A meme for memories
Okay, Fam. Let's get some memories made for these crazy kids. Here's how this shit works. You tag in with your characters, write up a few memories for them. People jump in with "I WAS THERE! I WAS IN THE ROOM WHEN IT HAPPENED!" or some variation of a reaction.
Alternately: Tag other people with your ideas for memories between family members! That's fun, too!
These people need *some* kind of happy in their fucked up childhoods. Let's do this thing.
For anyone with AU siblings, consider this; where was your character when they stopped the robbery at the bank?
How did they react when Five ran off?
How did they react to RoboMom at first?
Let's build their childhood.

That time when she was fourteen and used her first ever written-by-her spell to dye her own hair blue! And then took about six months to come up with a good counter-spell that actually worked. People tried dying it. The dye never stuck. So she owned it and rocked it and didn't care how much trouble she got into.
That time during the bank robbery she made a couple of the men do ballet before turning them to face each other and using their own guns against each other. She has a pair of specialized ballet shoes just for stuff like this.
That time she and a (or several) sibling(s) snuck out of the house using vines she'd conjured because it was two am and they couldn't sleep and they wanted donuts.
That time she flirted with the pizza delivery driver and made them think she already paid using her magic.
That time she trained Elliot to fetch, only to have him get stuck in the fence.
That time during a game of inside hide and seek where she fell asleep in her hiding spot in the attic.
Come at me with more memories.

Do you want Five to be the one who found her in the attic? He would have gotten worried eventually and he is the one who can move quicker around the house to check all their usual hidding spots.

For everyone:
How did they react when Five ran off?
How did they react to RoboMom at first?
Evie's Answers:
She was upset when he ran, and pissed off for a while. And then forever worried when he was just gone and no one could find him. When he came back, she was relieved but also alarmed that he was now an old man trapped in a tiny kids body, but she's learning how to navigate her now older brother.
She was so for it. She loves Grace to no end. Once Grace was part of things, Evie became kinder and more patient with people, trying to emulate some of moms better habits.
Re: For everyone:
He was jealous. He can't even begin to count how many times he's wanted to go 'fuck this shit, i'm out' but didn't because of his loyalty to his other siblings.
He was kinda mad he didn't make her first and spent some time asking her questions about her AI/programming/routines and then eventually she was just Mom and he loved her for it.
More questions for everyone:
Have they ever wanted to meet their birth-mom?
If yes, have they tried to find them as an adult?
If no, why not?
Re: More questions for everyone:
Yes, but finding them was really difficult and when she finally did find information, she learned something relatively horrifying.
Hard pass. She poked and prodded and found info, as stated, but she also discovered she was born in a prison because her mother was a Black Widow Murderer. So...no thanks!
Re: More questions for everyone:
Gabe's definitely curious about his bio-mom and, after some digging and throwing money at a genealogy site based DNA test, he found her and found out that he has a sister. He's debated reaching out to them, but he isn't really sure if he wants to meet a woman who decided to give her baby to someone like Reginald. Plus he found out her daughter is a classical pianist, and he figures that he already has one classical musician sister, he doesn't need two.
Gabe's Answers
Five's disappearance truly upset him, which he tried to repress and tried to focus on training and studying instead. There was definitely a month or two afterwards where he barely slept and the hallucinations he conjured involved blank spaces and things disappearing.
He adores Grace. Much like his canon counterpart, he's very much a mama's boy, even if in this situation she happens to be a robot. She's one of the few members of the family who's able to quell his more assholish tendencies (even if it is temporary).
Peter Hargreeves
That time on the subway when he tripped and tried to catch himself on a pole, only to miss entirely and accidentally ripped a ladies skirt off. He and whoever he was with got chased off the train seven stops early and they had to walk the rest of the way home.
That time he webbed himself to the ceiling by accident testing a new webbing. It took half an hour for it to dissolve, and any attempts to pull him down put cracks on the ceiling.
That time he fell asleep on the ceiling and fell to the floor, almost landing on one of his siblings.
That time he built an old laptop from spare parts and duct tape. He still has it. It's a brick, now, but he's not getting rid of it.
That time he used a SPY-der drone to spy on Mom to see what she was making them for birthday dinner, only to have it short out and land in mashed potatoes. Mom was amused. Dad was not.
That time his spider-sense warned him of danger, but he couldn't do anything about it otherwise someone else would get hurt, so he took a foul ball from a baseball game at a park right to the stomach. He came so close to getting sick.

I also like the idea of Peter falling from the ceiling on top of an unsuspecting Five. Probably the only time Peter heard Five scream really high.
no subject
He hates you both.
Also, HE TRIED TO STOP HIMSELF FIVE HE'S SO SORRY ARE YOU OK was probably Peter for like an hour or two after.
no subject
It's your fault for getting ur sticky fingers on the skirts os some poor innocent woman.
Five's answer was probably a colorful string of curses as he applied an icepack to his forehead. You are one heavy bastard, brother.
I hope you all like some drama
IN THIS ESSAY I WILL...Power training
Remember how Luther threw Five of the stairs and he teleported in mid-air? Pretty sure
Bastard alien dadReginald put him through some pretty weird and risky special training alogn the years to figure out the limitations of his powers. Such as: if they function normally in freezing cold temperatures or the opposite, extremely hot weather, how many jumps it takes Five to get too tired to even move and from how high in the air can he be dropped before teleporting as to not hit the ground.Unlike most of his sibling's power, Five's are related to his energy level and health. After special training with their father, he ended in massive pain, sick or with some broken bones. He didn't always manage to hide from his sibling after that and he hated people seeing him at his lowest. Feel free to assume that Five either tried in vain to avoid your muse or decided to crash in their room because he was too tired to get into his own.
Now, for a new layer or Nightmare fuel...Five can spatial jump holding objects just fine. But it's not until the last episode of s2 where it's shown that he can spatial jump people with him (and apparently it makes them queasy). How do you think Reginald tested if Five could jump from one place to another without killing the living thing he teleportign with him? Why, with little pets of course. I'll say that testing it while Five was holding onto a fish tank would have done the trick but knowing Reginald, he would have wanted to test something with more mass than a fish, like a dog or a cat.
We know that, fortunately, spatial jumping with another living creature doesn't end like the movie the Fly but that training still left Five scarred. He refused to jump at first because he didn't want to accidentally kill a puppy and that was an epic clash with his father. There was probably scremaing that coudl be heard around the house. (And his dad didn't let them keep the doggie afterwards, the bastard).
Sibling relationships.
As mentioned in some excerpts of Vanya's book that were circulating in the net (bless the Fandom's attention to detail), Five spent time with Vanya by his own volition, enjoyed her quietness, and she played the violin for him. She mentions that he was her only confidant, so they were pretty close.
The book also implies that at times Five argued with their father to redirect the man's anger from his siblings to him. Five's not good at showing concern, not with words, so his way to protect his siblings at the time was to act haughty and try to undermine the importance of their powers. Because if dear 'ol dad was focussed on Five, his siblings wouldn't have to deal with the monster. It went so-so.
Feel free to assume that he interfered in someway when Reginald was scolding/yelling/about to make another of his sibling's life difficult--and had to deal with more of the special power training from hell. Which led to Five being extra cranky afterward.
OKAY, SOMETHING NICE THIS TIME
How do you keep a kid who can teleport in his room? You can't, so even if Reginald established a curfew Five probably did as he pleased. He often teleported into his sibling's rooms to chat, play with them, or get them all out of the house so they could go eat donuts.
I like to think he visited Klaus in the mausoleum too once he figured what Reginald was doing to him, and keep him company for a few hours.

He hates horror movies, but used to watch them as research. He generally tries to avoid watching them with any of his siblings around after someone pointed out how jumpy he was after they saw The Ring.
He hasn't really done it since he left for college, but he used to create wild, fanciful hallucinations for his siblings. Partially to prove to himself that he can make something other than a nightmare, partially to just be nice.
On any late night donut excursions, his go to order was a cream filled, a chocolate sprinkle, and a box of chocolate milk. He's still fond of boxed chocolate milk.
Gabe once got himself stuck in a tree during a mission where they had a showdown in a park and he needed the high ground to best cast a hallucination, and one of his siblings had to save him. He still stands by the fact that he would have come down on his own eventually.
Pop music has been a guilty pleasure of his for years. He'll never admit it, but the first time he ever tried using his powers for non-heroic purposes as a teenager was to shoplift a Britney Spears album (that one of his siblings found and he swore up and down belonged to one of the girls and wound up in his room somehow). On top of that, and he would never admit this to any of his siblings, he sometimes does karaoke and used to hallucinate his way into bars to do so as a teenager.
Right before he left for college, he gave their dad a minor "fuck you" by casting monocles all over the place that would disappear the moment he reached out to pick it up. Reginald tore into him that evening, but it was so worth it.
He had a fling with a girl when he was 16 that he used to sneak out to meet up with. He gave her an alias and everything, but she dumped him after she found out he'd been lying to her when one of his siblings found him and called him by his name and she put two-and-two together.

The tree thing is so funny/cute, though. I love the monocles trick too.
no subject
Gabe is still a little proud of the monocles trick, if only because it feels like the one time he got a one up on their dad. The tree thing, on the other hand. He'd rather not talk about it.

It's truly a shame Five wasn't there to see it, tell him about it one day, Gabe.

NEW QUESTIONS:
How did they react?
Evie's Answers
It shook her up. It made her feel unsteady. It made her feel like she was never going to get far away enough from The Umbrella Academy to be happy and to feel settled enough in her own life, even though a part of her knew she could be happy if she just let herself be. But, like most, if not all kids at TUA, she doesn't know how to process emotions in a healthy way, so she proceeded to push Harry away and went home.
She really, truly regrets doing that and wished she'd have brought him with her because he was someone she needed the most.

The time she discovered her empathy powers; one of her siblings was having a nightmare that Rey subconsciously picked up on. She had be a very young kid and woke up screaming about a monster under the bed. She woke up half the house from her screaming and from windows breaking as a result of her telekensis rising up to protect her from the 'nightmare.'
The time she avoided most of her family when she was a teen because GOOD GOD, HORMONES ARE A BITCH, and everyone had something running through their minds that Rey did NOT want to know about.
The time she had at least two or three of Reginald's books in her room at a time. Reading helped calm her mind and block the rest of the world out.
The time she decided she had enough and went to a bar because it just made sense(?) and used her Mind Trick to get people to leave her alone, while at the same time got the bartender to keep giving her shots.
The above mentioned time also resulted in a handful of people getting drunk texts.
The time when someone managed to piss Rey off royally and she manage to hide it well (even tone, and telling others she was fine) until after the 4th 'I'm fine,' then lightening came down and struck a tree down.
Got some memories of Rey? Hit me up!
no subject
Soooo the nightmare thing. Did she ever figure out which one of her siblings was having a bad dream? I volunteer Five but I imagine he was embarrassed to admitt it and would have liked it if Rey didn't tell the others about why her powers went crazy in her sleep.
no subject
No, she never found out who it was, but it freaked her out so much she didn't want to talk about it.
Also, them cuddling is THE BEST.
no subject
Oh, poor Rey. :C
Five says she's just comfy and warm to lean against, sssh >_>
no subject
And Five is....he's just there, someone she trusts.
BRB I'm going to bawl my eyes out now.

Aww sweet. That goes both ways.
