1- We're canceling the apocalypse

The world ended.

Twice.

And both times, that wasn't quite right with Five Hargreeves. So he got back in time to change it, taking his family with him. They were, after all, the ones to blame for the long list of mistakes that culminated in their sister blowing up the moon. If Vanya was the bomb and Harold Jenkins was the fuse, Reginald Hargreaves was without a doubt the maker of the explosive. They had to do better this time and they had to do it together.

Time traveling was a messy business, more so when you were doing it in a rush and without the proper calculations. But they made it back in time to the morning of their father's funeral, in one piece against all odds, and after some trouble, their brother Ben was back with them.

His family was alive, hurt but whole.

Five gave a small smile before his eyes rolled back into his head and he promptly passed out from the effort, nose bleeding.

2 - (You Give Me) Fever, In the morning child, Fever all through the night

A few days later, the pain in his body had yet to subside and Five wondered if it could be a permanent effect of time traveling. You could only gamble with time so much until it started getting pissed off at you. His family was still dealing with the last week's events, either mourning, keeping to themselves or thinking about the future, but everything was relatively stress-free.

For the past 40 years, Five has never lived a single day that wasn't pressure-packed. And now, his body has decided that ey, this would be the perfect moment to crash. Bright lights made his eyes burn and increased his headaches, his throat hurt so much that he had stopped eating, his cheeks were constantly flushed and he felt hot a minute and freezing the next.

But the worse of all was that he sneezed.

Actually, the worst of all was that the sneezing made him space jump without intent or control. So far he had accidentally teleported himself to the basement, atop the kitchen's fridge, to the bar -knocking several bottles in the process-, to their mother's lap while she was sitting in front of the paintings, and into the bathtub.

The alarmed and frustrated shriek that Five gave out could be heard all around the house after a sneeze had teleported him to the chandelier, leaving him holding onto it for dear life several feet above the ground.

3- Another One Bites The Dust

When tiredness got too much or he had accidentally teleported himself somewhere, Five gave up and slept. Never in his room, if he could avoid it. He hadn't used it for decades and it was a reminder of the life he had lost, filled with books and toys and memories of a lost innocence that felt unpleasant.

Vanya's room was spartan and clean in all ways Klaus' wasn't but both reflected their owners and brought Five a sense of comfort, familiarity. Allison's bed was the comfiest, a soft mattress and softer pillows, while Luther had the biggest one. Five liked to curl into a ball in the middle of it and let himself feel small for once.

Diego and Ben's rooms hadn't been used in some time but Grace made sure to keep them both clean and they had signs of his sibling's personalities all over the place. A peaceful sleep still didn't come easy, though, with the fever only making his usual nightmares worse.

He's certain he rattled something pretty good, considering the spots blinking into his vision, but he flutters his eyelashes, tries to clear them away when he hears Five asking if he's okay. It sounds a little far away or like he's underwater-- he can't quite explain it.

"'Course I did," he huffs, inhaling deep, holding a moment then exhaling slow. "F-Fine. Think I'm just a little rattled, but that'll pass." Against his better judgement, Klaus ignores the throbbing of his backside, lifts up onto his elbow and brings his attention to Five's face, the edges of his lips quirked slightly.

Something feels off for one reason or another, like, had the banister always been this high up? He can't immediately remember, but, "Better question: are you okay? We should probably get you into bed." A pause, his brow furrowing when the odd swimming sensation drifts through him a second time. "Just, uh... give me a minute?"

"Shhh," Klaus hushes softly, reaching to give Five's head an affectionate little pat after it drops back against his chest. "See? Don't fight it, old man. Just chill for a minute or you'll end up making it worse."

Although, the longer they sit there, the more bizarre the feeling starts to become. That, and he's pretty sure he glanced down and saw his brother's legs dangling near his sides. "Hey, uhm... Five?" He shuts his eyes tight, vigorously shakes his head (almost to the point of painful), then reopens them-- and sure as shit, they are goddamn floating right now.

"Okay, so, don't freak out or anything? But I think we miiight be floating." Oh, there's no 'might' about it: they are absolutely hovering a good three feet from the actual floor.

Bursting Five's bubble is only mildly disappointing. When the smaller male moves to put his knee down and there's nothing beneath them, the Cheshire-like smile that curves his lips up could maybe be considered smug-- just a tiny amount (which is a huge lie, he looks way too damn proud for his own good).

Thank goodness – for Five, at least – it fades as soon as it'd come, giving way to a far more unhappy, almost pained expression.

"Why must you ask me things I don't know the answer to?" An eye-roll and a groan follow the question, one of his hands stretching out, reaching for any sort of flat surface he can use for stability. Klaus's fingers curl around the railing (is that what his back hit? he isn't sure), gripping hard then pushing with all his might.

By the time he's upright, it almost looks like they're both sitting in an invisible swing Klaus has yet to start pushing. "I just... thought about not falling, about not breaking our damn necks and now—" Well, now they're floating? He makes a vague gesture toward them both, watching his brother through half-lidded eyes.

"Okay, yes, but I don't know why?" Klaus sounds a bit whiney, but it's mostly because of the odd buzzing sensation going on in his head at the moment. Had it always been there or was this going to be something he'd have to deal with forever now after the discovery of a new ability? Mercifully, Five's clinging to him is far more distracting than the faint hum and he moves a hand to settle against the spot between his brother's shoulder-blades. "I've got ya."

He shrugs and shoots Five a look then cautiously glances down. "So it would seem, but why's it manifesting right now? Because we were in immediate danger or something? I don't get it."

"Maybe," which is likely the easiest thing Klaus has agreed with in a long time, even if it doesn't make much sense. He'd been high at first, so it doesn't seem like an actual explanation, but as it registers, perhaps Five's right? The alcohol he'd drank earlier has worn off and the pills aren't affecting his motor functions as badly—

Except Five's sick and that's not what he should be worrying about. "Oh," a beat, a quick look down then he lowers one leg to plant his foot on the ground, the arm not around his brother's shoulder moving so he can hook underneath one of his thighs and lift him up before dropping the other leg. "That's... a little easier?" And he didn't have to think too hard about it. With Five in his arms now, he takes a tentative step, waits a minute to see if they're going to float back up then scurries down the hall toward his room once it's safe. "How do you feel right now?"
