Five paused in his munching, gave a nod, and then took another bite of the toast. That was apparently a legit excuse to him. God knows he lost track of basic necessities constantly, like proper sleep, when he was focused on something or working on equations. The only times he slept during the week when they were trying to stop the apocalypse was when he was drunk or unconscious.
